It was good of you to write and share your views: B.C. Education ADM

Annette, thanks for the reply respecting the issues I brought forward concerning the teachers dispute in your Province. (B.C.) Please send my regards to the Minister and her thoughtful approach to such a contentious issue and her resolve to put the students first. Please keep me apprised of the development of a new collective bargaining structure to be in place when negotiations begin again early next year under a new wage mandate.

This dear old Dad, with a less able son in Public School, can only hope and have faith that Ontario's Government is committed to solving long-standing problems with the bargaining process for teachers and school employers in our province, as much as Premier Gordon Campbell and Education Minister Shirley Bond do, and continue to by scheduling another roundtable discussion with teachers where government, school trustees, teachers, parents, principals and superintendents can talk about students' learning conditions.

Respectfully,

Mark-Alan Whittle
Mark-Alan, I have been asked to respond on behalf of the government to your recent correspondence concerning British Columbia teachers. Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you.

Government recognizes the dedication, knowledge and resources that teachers bring to classrooms throughout British Columbia. I am very pleased that the dispute is resolved and that children and their teachers are back in their classrooms. Government welcomed the involvement of respected facilitator Vince Ready and accepted his recommendations on all of the issues unconditionally, noting that they provide a constructive foundation to build on, while improving learning conditions for children in the classroom and improving communications with the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation.

Government is committed to solving long-standing problems with the bargaining process for teachers and school employers in this province. In order to address the systemic issues that have plagued bargaining in this sector since the early 1990’s, the government appointed Vince Ready as an Industrial Inquiry Commission on October 6. Vince Ready will recommend a new collective bargaining structure to be in place when negotiations begin again early next year under a new wage mandate.

Also, the Province and all education stakeholders, including the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation, recently took part in a permanent Learning Roundtable to discuss class size, class composition, and other issues related to learning conditions in the public school system. That first meeting of the Roundtable went very well and another meeting is scheduled for mid-November.

The government appreciates your interest in this matter. It was good of you to write and share your views.

Yours truly,

Annette Wall
Assistant Deputy Minister

Dear M.P.P Dr. Marie Bountrogianni: You're invited!

Dr. Marie Bountrogianni
Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs
Minister Responsible for Democratic Renewal

Photo Opportunity to celebrate International Day Of The Child and Promote Childcare Choice For Parents on Nov. 19th, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. on the second floor vestibule, Hamilton City Hall.

Dear Dr. Marie,

How nice it was to see you, Mayor DiIanni and M.P. Tony Valeri at the Discovery Centre by the Bay for the media event announcing some great news for Hamilton. Thank-you for all your efforts on behalf of your constituent’s of Hamilton Mountain, of which I’m proud to be one. Thank-you for representing us well.

As you know, during the funding announcement at the Discovery Center I had the opportunity to talk to M.P. Tony Valeri respecting the issue of childcare choice for parents as it relates to the proposed childcare legislation.

I related to Mr. Valeri that it was very important for parents to have a say and a choice about childcare and who delivers it to their children. As you know it takes a special kind of caregiver to serve the needs of disabled kids like my boy Logan, and parents need to have a flexibility and a range of choices that they feel will best serve their kids.

Mr. Valeri told me that the government had concluded the institutional daycare phase of study. Upon hearing this fantastic news I thanked Mr. Valeri for his vote of confidence in listening to my concerns as a parent and we shook hands on it.

I have also contacted Mayor Larry DiIanni and Councilor Dave Mitchell requesting they greet us at City Hall and I have also taken the liberty of inviting Niagara West-Glanbrook M.P. Dean Allison and Cambridge M.P. Gary Goodyear who support childcare choice for parents along with Hamilton Centre Candidate Eliot Hill and Hamilton Mountain Candidate Don Graves who have confirmed their attendance.

Therefore, I humbly request that you participate with us on November 19th at 11:00 a.m. in a photo opportunity to celebrate International Day of the Child and to bring forward the heartfelt concerns of your constituents regarding childcare choice for parents at Hamilton City Hall.

Other groups of parents are working together from coast to coast to voice their displeasure at the proposed National Daycare Program in photo-ops just like this one. Parents of all political stripes working together for the betterment of their kids.

My disabled boy Logan and I will be inviting parents, children and friends to celebrate with you, the many innovative ways of raising kids in Canada. The tribute is not only to the child but is a polite reminder to your government and Mr. Valeri’s government that not all parents use the daycare system.

Parents and care givers are suggesting that rather than funding only one way to raise kids (Institutional Daycare), it would be more fiscally prudent, more democratically equal and wiser to fund the child wherever the child is.

On a more sombre note, it was nice to chat with you at the veterans memorial service on the Mountain recently, my Dad Bert was a war hero. I'm glad you remebered the sacrafice he made for freedom and this request for your attendance of this important event so I can get the word out to parents who value flexibility and wide array of childcare choices the most and we look forward to seeing you at the photo-op.

Respectfully,

It all comes down to a matter of trust: Taube

Paul Martin and his corrupt Liberal regime must think Canadian’s are brain dead or something. When Stephen Harper proposes tax cuts they are evil, but when a desperate government, Paul Martin’s corrupt Liberal government promises them they are a good thing, even if we have to wait a full five years to get them. How will that raise the quality of life for me and my disabled boy Logan?

In a nut shell, it won’t.

Vote for Harper because he is honest and will do as he says. I know him to be a man of honor and good heart who can walk the walk for all Canadians, including the disabled ones, instead of talking the talk and fibbing like Paul Martin Does. Paul Martin cannot be trusted to govern, but Mr. Harper sure can, and will. That you can take to the bank.

Mini-budget is all window dressing
By MICHAEL TAUBE

[…] It's important for Sun readers to keep this in mind: The mini-budget is an election platform for Prime Minister Paul Martin and the Liberals. With the three opposition parties united behind the idea of forcing a federal election, Martin's government will fall in short order. And if the Liberals are not re-elected, none of these proposals will come to pass.

But that's a good thing. We'll be able to vote out the Liberals, who target tiny tax cuts for specific groups and spend our money like drunken sailors. And we'll bring in a Conservative government that supports immediate broad-based tax relief for all Canadians to help our economy grow and flourish.

It's pretty obvious as to which party has the better economic plan.

All it comes down to is a matter of trust.

Praise the Lord for childcare choice: MAW

Dear Linda,

Thank-you very much for responding to my memorandum to Premier Lord respecting childcare choice for parents.

As you know parents from coast to coast will be holding photo-ops in their communities to celebrate International Day of the Child and to promote childcare choice for parents and caregivers on November 19th, 2005.

Thanks to your public support of childcare choice for parents and families in your Province, quite a few local legislators will be attending a photo-op at Hamilton City Hall that my less able son and other parents have organized. Parents know what’s best for their kids, a responsibility we all take very seriously. Hopefully you will be able to attend the event in your community to support childcare choice for parents.

So far we have Hamilton Mayor Larry DiIanni and Councilor Dave Mitchell coming to celebrate with Logan, Laurie and I to hear or views on childcare choice.

I have also taken the opportunity to extend an invitation to others who support our cause such as M.P. Gary Goodyear who is the member for Cambridge and M.P. Dean Allison representing Niagara West-Glanbrook, M.P. Tony Valeri, M.P.P. Dr. Marie Bountrogianni and Candidate Don Graves contesting the electoral district of Hamilton Mountain.

Please pass along my personal thanks to Premier Lord for sticking up for parents who want to decide the best childcare choice for their kids.

Respectfully,

Mark-Alan Whittle

Re: Childcare choice for parents

Dear Mr. Binns and Mr. Lord,

I would like to thank both of you for remembering and publicly supporting the value family members bring to the national childcare debate. I can tell both of you, from first hand experience, that it takes a special kind of care giving to serve a little disabled boy like my son Logan, especially the value primary caregivers like Logan’s Grandma Whittle bring to my sons living and learning experiences.

Although this value may be priceless to Logan - and his mom Laurie and I - it should also be recognized by the government of Canada for the inherent care giving value it has in real life, part of the loving and learning experience the vast majority of Canadian children experience, thanks to family members who pitch in. Citizens who want to instill the value of tolerance and good citizenship at home raising their kids, something that’s not available from Institutional Daycare Models outside a parents control.

I’m especially proud of the fact that both of you have recognized the value stay at home mothers represent within the economy and childcare debate now making headlines around the world.

Most important of all is the notion that funding the child is the most effective way to ensure families and parents have a say in real, workable solutions to their childcare needs of today, including the value relatives and trusted members of the community provide to families when they need nurturing the most, in the early years.

From them, through me, I salute both of you for putting the children and parents child care needs first in your respective Provinces and communities.

Respectfully,

Dear M.P. Jack Layton: Can't you smell that smell?

Dear M.P. Jack Layton,

Hopefully your day or two of soul searching will bring you to the same conclusion Mr. Harper and Mr. Doucett did, who opines that Paul Martin’s corrupt Liberal regime has lost their way and that, "They no longer have the moral authority to govern."

I take it you have heard of Mr. Warren Kinsella, right hand man to Jean Chretien back in 1995, when M. P. Chretien became 'Da Boss'. While flying out West this morning he posted the following thoughts about the Gomery report on Liberal corruption and greed at his web Blog.

Come on Jack, can’t you smell that smell, sakes alive brother, it’s stinkin' up the room. Wheeeew. Ugh. Open a window Jack.
I think he's still too darn loyal to 'Da Boss' and thinks Gomery and Paul Martin are in cahoots (LOL) or else he's telling the brutal truth about Paul Martin’s complicity in this regard (AdScam). Either way I would tend to agree with Warren's truthful words, as should you, if you had half a mind to.

Like Lorrie Golstein said on Sunday in the Toronto Sun, for all the propping up you're doing, what are you getting in return? Zip, zero, zilch, as in Bo Diddly squat my friend. Now's your time to shine Jack, so do the right thing, if you can.

[...] Gomery utterly destroys his credibility - and exposes his flagrant bias - when he actually states that the evidence "exonerates" Paul Martin. Gomery and Martin certainly want Canadians to believe that, but they won't. The guy who wrote the "Cher Claude" letter about sponsorship dollars knew nothing? The guy who was forced to admit he wrote the cheques? The guy who attended Quebec caucus and Quebec minister meetings, where sponsorship was regularly discussed, knew nothing? Bullshit. It's a bald-faced lie, and Canadians know it.

Therefore it would be in the best interest of Canadians, and their pocket books, for you to join together in consensus with the rest of the House of Commons and hold Paul Martin's corrupt Liberal government to account for the Liberal Party of Canada's corruption of the Federal government's Civil Service.

In case you didn’t notice, Paul Martin was elected to represent the Liberal Party of Canada, therefore he should be held responsible and removed from office as soon as possible.

That way outraged Canadians can get the election done and over with so we can ring in a new government for a New Year. It’s the ultimate Christmas present that honest hard working Canadians will value the most. Trust me Jack.
